Fashion and Fractions, Balboa, 10-11

Beginner Track: Ever wonder how your shirt was made? Learn how in this fabulous Fashion Week! You will custom-make a garment by building patterns using all form of mathematics, especially fractions. Your creation will be a combination of creativity, logical thinking, manual dexterity, mechanical skills and mathematics. For a complete look we will also sew sustainable accessories such as shopping and yoga-mat bags. On Friday, friends and family will be invited to see us on the runway!

Advanced Track: This class is specially tailored for those students who already possess a command of the sewing machine and a basic understanding of garment construction. Together we will continue to explore the art of apparel making while building new skills. We will focus on designing and producing one or two garments with the intention of mastering previously learned skills and practicing new ones.

Led by Arielle Crawford. Arielle is an expert custom designer both for dogs and for people. She has worked for Gymboree and boutique designer shops in San Francisco and Los Angeles. She is a graduate of the University of Central Florida.
