Mandarin Immersion Summer Science Camp

The Summer Science Camp aims to help children develop a sense of curiosity and exploration as well as increase their ability to understand Chinese through interactive lessons and activities. Your child will get the chance to use their hands to explore science projects from every day household items. Our goal is to provide a safe, educational, and fun environment where children can learn about science and also appreciate Chinese culture without leaving America.

Learning Chinese language and culture has become increasingly popular and it has much to share.  Chinese culture is one of the longest standing societies in the world and also one of the oldest civilizations that has a rich and ancient history. Chinese philosophy, art, and science greatly affected the development of the western world; and it continues to be an influential power even today. Though our children live half a world away, they have every reason to learn about their cultural heritage, to be proud of their roots, and to be inspired by the many Chinese traditions and help keep them alive.

How to prepare

Children ages 5–10 who can understand basic spoken Mandarin Chinese.

Our goal during summer camp is to have children continue to be immersed in Mandarin Chinese and have the opportunity to listen and practice using Chinese.

They should be able to understand simple verbal instructions like

  • "take this" 拿著
  • "run/walk" 跑/走
  • "here/there" 這裏/那裡
  • "sit down" 坐下來

This allows us to use basic instructions to help them improve their Chinese.
