Summer Tilden Outdoor Camp for Ages 7-10

Give your kids a summer outside up at Tilden Park this year. Just minutes away… but feels like a whole other place and pace.

Each week varies and campers attend from 1-11 weeks of camp with enthusiasm and continued engagement with the variety offered. No two weeks are the same, and yet, there is a regular schedule..

All campers meet up at the Meadows site for the start of the day with Free Play. The younger campers (Strawberry, ages 4.5-5 and Bananas, ages 5-6) and older campers (Mangoes, age 7 and Coconuts, ages 8-10) have separate circle times, story times, journal times, and art & cooking times, with special guest teachers, so activities can match age group interests, energy levels, and intensity. We play circle games to get to know each other, build trust, work together and plant seeds of long-lasting friendships. We sing songs and do art, cooking, science, and nature activities for fun, release and to learn new skills..

Each week Free Play is a daily highlight where staff and youth leaders engage with campers and get to know the wide array of camper talents and interests. Campers participate in organized field games, art projects, open ball and sports play, books and board games including checkers, chess and Apples to Apples, and manipulatives, like legos and blocks. Our camp is mixed age and a space where siblings can spend time together during the day.

We do our best to plan to meet our campers’ needs and know when to adjust our plans and expectations so it works better for all. Our goal is to make an inclusive space that sparks curiosity, encourages problem solving and active listening, where working together benefits children and adults alike.

Camp is only fun if you feel safe, nurtured and understood…even when you might be trying brand new activities with brand new friends!
